The McGuire Sisters, Rubie, Dottie, and Phyllis were a popular singing trio in the 1950-60’s. The girls started singing at churches and local events when Phillis was only 4 year old and were later discovered and signed by Coral records. They became known for their lavish dance routines on television specials. The sisters moved their bodies as they sang, dressed identical and moved in synchronicity.
‘Open Up Your Heart’ was written by Stuart Hamblen in 1954 and performed by the McGuire Sisters. It was a pop single, that was also featured in the Flintstones and Anne Murray’s album There’s a Hippo in My Tub. It’s an uplifting tune that talks about the importance of positivity. While listening to this record you can hear vocals from the trio, orchestra and a chorus. This record sends a message about not letting hate corrupt your heart, because when you do happiness can never be found, and without happiness what else do you have?
