Exploring the history of the groove

“The Ballad Of Davy Crockett” By George Burns

“The Ballad of Davy Crockett”

“The Ballad of Davy Crockett” was originally released in 1955 written by Thomas Blackburn and recorded by George Burns. The song was initially written for ABC’s show “Disneyland”, hosted by Walt Disney.

Fess Parker performs the song live for the first time staged in front of a log cabin to resemble Frontierland. This song was the beginning of the Crockett Craze which encouraged the creation of more installments of the Davy Crockett Franchise including Davy Crockett King of the Wild Frontier and Davy Crockett and The River Pirates

He became a household name but he was actually based on a real person. Davy was born to pioneer parents in Eastern Tennessee, and never received an academic education. He was a skilled woodsman, scout and hunter. As he grew older, he joined the Military and was elected a lieutenant in the Tennessee militia along with having a successful political career.
