““Can’t Help Falling In Love”, covered by Elvis Presley, is a romantic love song that was recorded and released in 1961. The song written by George Weiss based its melody on a French song “Plaisir D’Amour” which is another classical love song. It was said that this was “one of the songs that [Presley] recorded that no one [thought] it was going to be that good of a song” (Alan Fortas, 1971). It was first featured in his movie, Blue Hawaii. During his recording of the song, Presley became frustrated due to the very slow tempo of the song. After finally speeding it up, Elvis was able to find the right flow of the song. As a surprise, he sang it to his grandmother for her birthday. He gave her a music box, and when she opened it, “Can’t Help Falling In Love” played while he sang along with it. It was said that this was Elvis’ last song that he sang in public before he died in 1977.”
